Our fans got talent: The Duo Group
Sometimes, you browse video websites, and expect to find your latest AC2 video and you suddenly find an unexpectedly amazing video. That happens to me a few days ago, and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share it with you! So that is exactly what I want to do now and to introduce the people behind it!
- Could you please introduce yourself for our community?
Hey everyone. My name is Graham Cornell. I am the Founder and Creative Director over at TheDuoGroup. TheDuoGroup is a small creative group that produces trailers, ads, and shorts for the Interactive Entertainment Industry. Sounds legit right?
- What do you do for a living?
I’m currently a Marketing Specialist for a small technology company located in downtown Chicago.
I have contacted you through GameTrailers, because of an Assassin’s Creed sweet trailer that you created; could you give us more details about that project? How many people worked on that video, and how long does it usually take to create such an asset?
We just released a promo video for our upcoming Assassin’s Creed fan film “Initiation.” Initiation takes place before Altair has received the coveted title of Assassin. We follow him as he arrives to the last trial of his initiation.
We had a handful of people work on this project. The art was crafted by the amazingly talented Eric Hibbeler. Original music and sound design are being worked on as we speak by Hybrid Two Studios. (You can check out more or their work at www.hybridtwo.com.) Our voice talent was also done through Hybrid Two. Everything else (creative direction, editing, post production..etc) has been done by TheDuoGroup here in Chicago.
This project has taken a while to make! There was never a budget for this project and that being said, no strict deadlines were conceived. The different parties working on the short were instructed to get as much work done as they could in their free time. It has taken longer than expected, but it has been well worth the wait. The short has come together very well.
- Why Assassin’s Creed universe?
I personally loved the world and atmosphere that Ubisoft built around Assassin’s Creed, however there hasn’t been a great deal of story or history released about it. We wanted to take the opportunity to help build out the history of Assassin’s Creed and Altair as a character. A lot of people enjoyed playing as Altair, yet never had the chance to understand his past. So we thought we could share our interpretation, which is always an AWESOME one.

Do you have any other plans related to Assassin’s Creed? And in general?
We don’t have any plans specifically related to Assassin’s Creed in mind at the moment. Maybe something funny - we try not to take ourselves to seriously 
- I’m sure once we play AC2 something might spark.
- Any specific thing you would like to add?
Thanks to all the positive feedback we’ve received via comments, emails- we put a lot of our free time into our projects and it’s always great to hear from those who’ve liked our work. Keeps us wanting to do more!
